Further information for participants

The official language of the 8th National Conference on Satellite Communications (SatKom2024) is German.

Passport and visa

A valid passport is required for non-EU citizens to enter GERMANY and the European Union. An identity card is sufficient for citizens of EU member states. Please enquire at your consulate for details.

It is important to plan your trip well and apply for a visa in good time, as visa applications are now scrutinised more strictly than in the past. All participants are strongly advised to enquire at their local embassy which travel documents they need for their trip to Germany.

If you need a visa to attend the symposium, please apply for it as soon as possible!

Further information on the requirements for entering Germany can be found on the following websites:

Invitation letter

The conference organising committee will send you a letter of invitation upon separate request. The organising committee expressly points out that this letter is only intended to support participants in applying for a visa or in their efforts to obtain travel funds.

The invitation letter does not imply any financial obligation on the part of the conference towards the participants.

All participants of the 8th National Satellite Communications Conference (SatKom2024) who require a letter of invitation to apply for a visa should request one during the online registration process. Letters of invitation will only be issued upon receipt of registration and payment of the required registration fees.

If your visa application is rejected, you have until 20 August 2024 to submit an application for a full refund of the application fees to satellitenkonferenz@dlr.de. A scanned copy of the visa rejection letter should be attached to your refund request. For applications after 20 August 2024, the cancellation policy applies.
